Find a solution for combining the water, milk and air supply in such a way that users are able to connect them only in the correct way.
FrieslandCampina produces and sells consumer products, such as dairy-based beverages, infant nutrition, cheese and desserts, all over the world. In addition, products are supplied to professional customers like the hospitality industry.
MMID developed three user-friendly solutions for the professional market together with FrieslandCampina. The technical concept of making the perfect milk froth was developed by FrieslandCampina. MMID translated the functional requirements into a product that is easy to use.
The popularity of cappuccino and latte macchiato has grown enormously in recent years, leading to an increased demand for great quality frothed milk. FrieslandCampina worked together with various companies to develop Lattiz: a machine that consistently delivers barista-quality frothed milk. MMID’s expertise was called in to find a solution for combining the connections for water, milk and air supply. MMID’s input led to a user-friendly design, which operates in a functional and reliable way.
When you open the machine, it immediately becomes clear what must be done. While placing the refill, the water is connected. After closing the handle, which visibly holds the refill in place, the water connection is secured and the air connection is made. The geometry around the connections is designed in such a way that it is very clear if one is not fixed correctly. If the machine can be closed, the connections are made correctly.
MMID developed a concept for ‘broach prevention’. This part prevents the milk carton to ‘activate’ before it is connected. With this broach prevention, the carton of milk stays closed and therefore fresh until it is used.
With the press of a button, water, milk and air come together and a beautiful and firm froth comes out of the machine. A perfect cappuccino is made in seconds.
